Websites for Cornwall’s trades

A website that answers
when you can’t.

Most trade websites are a brochure with a phone number. Yours should tell a customer what they want to know, answer their question at 9pm, take their details, and text you. Built by someone who spent forty years on the tools before he built software, for electricians, plumbers, builders, roofers and contractors across Cornwall.

Kernow.ai builds websites for Cornwall’s construction trades, with Foredesk, an AI front desk, answering enquiries on the site and texting the owner every one. Built in St Austell by Mick Stevenson, who spent forty years in the trades before software. Quoted per project, fixed before work starts.

What a trade website has to do, in order

1. Say what you do and where

Plain words, your trade, your towns, your accreditations where they can be seen. A customer in Truro wants to know in five seconds whether you cover Truro.

2. Answer the question they came with

“Do you do EICRs?” “How long for a boiler?” “Can you look at a leak this week?” Foredesk answers from your own information, in your words, any hour — and never invents a price.

3. Get the enquiry to you

Name, number, job, postcode — texted to you straight away, so the customer isn’t ringing the next name on the list while you’re up a ladder.

Live, not mock-ups

Two sites you can go and use right now

Cornwall Play Safety — an inspection firm’s site with its own front desk

An RPII-accredited playground inspection business. The site explains a technical service to a parish clerk, shows the accreditation and insurance up front, and has Foredesk (“Piran”) answering questions about inspection tiers, turnaround and what to send for a quote. Same firm also runs InspectVoice, the voice-driven inspection app, on site.

cornwallsteelbuildings.co.uk

Cornwall Steel Buildings — a lead-generation site with calculators

Steel buildings for farms and businesses across Cornwall and Devon. A groundworks calculator, a 3D building designer, a cost-per-square-metre guide and a get-a-price form, with Foredesk (“Jago”) answering on the front. Built to turn a visitor who’s only half decided into a priced enquiry.

By trade

What your customers ask, by trade

Each trade page sets out the questions Foredesk answers for that trade — the ones that cost you the job when nobody picks up.

By town

Anywhere in Cornwall, in person

Based in St Austell. We come to you for the first conversation and the handover — it’s easier to get a website right at your kitchen table than over email.

Not sure the website is the problem?

Often it isn’t. Enquiries go missing because the phone wasn’t answered, the WhatsApp sat for a day, or the Google listing has no reviews since 2023. The Lead Leak Check finds out which, with evidence, for £299 — and if the answer is “your site’s fine, fix these two free things”, that’s what the report says.

How the check works

Straight answers

How much does a website for a trade cost?
Quoted per project, fixed before any work starts. A five-page site for a sole trader and a twenty-page site with calculators for a contractor aren’t the same job, so one price would be wrong for both. You get a written figure and what it covers, and it doesn’t move.
Do I need a website if I’m on Checkatrade and Facebook?
Those get you found. The website is where people check you out before they ring, and it’s the only one of the three you own. If a platform changes its rules or its prices, your site is still yours. It also has to answer the phone when you can’t — which is what Foredesk is for.
What’s different about a site from Kernow.ai?
Three things. It’s built by someone who spent forty years in the trades, so it says what a customer actually wants to know. It has Foredesk on it, answering enquiries from your own information and texting you every one. And it’s built to the same security and GDPR standard as everything else we ship — see How we build.
Can you fix or update my existing site instead?
Often, yes. The Lead Leak Check will tell you whether your current site is losing you enquiries and what to fix, and plenty of fixes you can do yourself. If it needs rebuilding we’ll say so, and if it doesn’t we’ll say that too.
Do you cover my town?
Anywhere in Cornwall, in person. We’re based in St Austell and regularly work with firms in Truro, Penzance, Newquay, Falmouth, Bodmin, Camborne and Redruth. Devon too, by arrangement — Halls Roofing in Exeter runs Foredesk.
Will my site show up on Google?
It’ll be built properly for search — fast, structured so Google understands what you do and where, with the pages a customer in your town is looking for. We don’t sell ongoing SEO packages, and we’ll tell you straight that for most trades, reviews and reply speed matter more than rankings.

Tell me what your customers keep asking

Twenty minutes, in person or on the phone. I’ll tell you straight whether you need a new site, a fix, or just the phone answered — and give you a fixed quote before anything starts.
