Getting more work in Cornwall

Most trades don’t need marketing.
They need the enquiry answered.

Forty years in the trades before software, and the pattern never changed: the firms with the most work weren’t the ones with the best adverts. They were the ones that got recommended, had real reviews, and picked up the phone. Here’s what works for a Cornwall trade, in order — and what we can actually do about it.

For most Cornwall trades, more work comes from being recommended, real Google reviews, and replying to enquiries before the next firm — not from paid SEO. Kernow.ai isn’t a marketing agency: it finds where your enquiries go missing (the £299 Lead Leak Check) and builds the AI front desk that stops the leak (Foredesk).

In order

What gets a Cornwall trade more work

  1. 01

Being recommended. Still number one, and it always will be. You can’t buy it, but you can stop losing it — a recommendation dies when the customer looks you up and finds a dead website or a phone that rings out.

  2. 02

Real, recent Google reviews. A firm with forty reviews and one from last week beats a firm with sixty from 2022. Ask after every job. Never fake one — it’s been illegal since April 2025, AI-written or not.

  3. 03

Replying first. The customer messages three firms. The first one to answer properly usually gets the job. If you’re on the tools, that’s rarely you — unless something answers for you. This is the leak most firms have and don’t measure.

  4. 04

A website that says what you do and where. Your trade, your towns, your tickets, what you don’t do. Plain words. Then it has to answer the question the customer came with — that’s what we build.

  5. 05

Showing up in search for your trade and towns. Useful, and last. A properly built site does most of this on its own. Paying monthly for “SEO” before you’ve fixed 2, 3 and 4 is buying traffic you’ll lose at the phone.

What we do

Find the leak, then stop it

  • Lead Leak Check — £299, in person. We enquire as a customer, time your replies, check your site and Google listing, and agree three fixes. £299 off anything built within 30 days.
  • Foredesk — the AI front desk that answers website, WhatsApp and missed calls from your own information and texts you every enquiry. £499 setup, £99 a month.
  • A website built for a trade, with Foredesk on it. Quoted per project.

What we don’t

Honestly, so you know

  • Run Google or Facebook ads
  • Manage your social media
  • Sell monthly SEO packages or link-building
  • Write fake reviews or buy leads on your behalf

If what you need is one of those, we’ll tell you, and tell you what to watch for when you buy it.

Straight answers

Are you a marketing agency?
No. Kernow.ai builds the thing that answers your enquiries and finds where they’re going missing. We don’t run ads, manage your socials or sell SEO packages. If what you need is an agency, we’ll say so.
Do I need SEO?
Less than you’ve been told. For most Cornwall trades the three things that bring work are reviews, being recommended, and replying first. A properly built site with your trade and towns on it is table stakes; paying monthly to “rank” rarely beats answering the phone. We’ll tell you straight where you stand.
Should I pay for Checkatrade, Bark or MyBuilder?
They can work, and they can eat your margin. The question is what happens after the lead arrives — if it sits unanswered for an hour it was wasted money. Fix the reply first, then decide whether paying for more leads is worth it.
What actually gets a Cornwall trade more work?
In order: being recommended; Google reviews that are real and recent; replying to the enquiry before the next firm does; a website that says plainly what you do and where; and showing up in search for your trade and your towns. That order matters. Most firms spend on the last one and lose work on the third.
Where do I start?
With the Lead Leak Check. For £299 we test your business as a customer would, time your replies on every channel, go through your website and Google listing, and sit down with you to agree the three fixes worth doing first. Plenty of them are free.
