Check the company
before you price the job.

A new contractor rings with a big job and wants a price by Friday. Before you send it, spend a minute on their public record. I built SafeToQuote to do that reading for you.

SafeToQuote is a free check on a UK limited company or LLP, built by Kernow.ai’s Mick Stevenson. Type the company’s name or number and it reads the public record, then tells you the payment terms to put in your quote, with every reason linked.

What it reads, so you don’t have to

Companies House

Whether it is still active, whether its accounts are late, what its last balance sheet shows, recent changes of directors or owners, and new charges over its assets.

The Gazette

Winding-up petitions, whether they were dismissed, and notices of insolvency proceedings against the company.

How it pays its own suppliers

Large companies must report how quickly they pay. If they report paying slowly, you see it before you agree 30-day terms.

Straight answers

What does SafeToQuote tell me?
One of three answers, worded as payment terms you can put in a quote: payment in advance only, a deposit and stage payments, or normal terms. Every reason under it links to the record it came from: Companies House, The Gazette, or the company’s own payment practices report.
What does it cost?
Nothing. The check is free and needs no account. Sign in with your email only if you want it to keep an eye on a few regular customers and email you when their record changes.
Will the company know I looked?
No. It reads public registers only, never a credit reference agency, so the company is not told and nothing lands on anyone’s credit file.
Most of my work is for homeowners. Is it any use?
Not for the homeowner themselves: it checks registered companies and LLPs only. It is for the jobs where the customer is a firm, such as a main contractor, a developer, a letting company or a holiday-let business run through a limited company.
Is it a credit rating?
No. It does not score anyone. It summarises what the public record shows about the company and suggests the terms that protect you.

SafeToQuote is a separate site run by Autaimate, with its own privacy notice and terms. It is not a credit rating: it summarises public records.

Got a price going out this week?

Check the company first. It takes less time than the phone call that won you the job.

Want a tool like this for your own firm?

SafeToQuote is the kind of thing Kernow.ai builds: one job a trade does by hand every week, done properly and checked. If there’s a check, a calculation or a chase you’re sick of doing yourself, tell me about it.
